More Russian stuff blowing up, plus Ukraine advances south of Robotyne [1]

Ukrainian artillery targets a Russian convoy in Novoprokopivka south of Robotyne. Russian sources on telegram claimed Ukraine captured Novoprokopivka, but that isn’t true — yet.

Novoprokopivka is far less fortified than Robotyne was. Taking that town would put Ukraine about 20 km from Tokmak.

More on the situation south of Robotyne:

x I'll share a few details about Tokmak-Robotyne axis, without elaborating details:

- Situation for russians worsened lately;

- They're frantically trying to prevent breakthrough;

- Claims about depleted russian reserves, reinforcements and forces for rotation are incorrect. — Tatarigami_UA (@Tatarigami_UA) August 25, 2023

There is also a statement from Ukraine’s military of advancement in the direction of the village of Ocheretuvate, which is several kilometers southeast of Robotyne and south of Verbose. If Ocheretuvate is their next goal, it would be a logical approach to Tokmak. It’s the last village before you get to Tokmak.

But that’s getting into the teeth of the Russian defensive lines. It’ll be a long slog.

x 🇺🇦 "The Ukrainian military is successful in two directions on the southern front", — the spokesman of the General Staff

There appears to be a large number of Russian soldiers on an island of the Dnipro River near Kherson who are cut off and surrounded. What makes this especially interesting is speculation that this unit might be the same one that blew up the Kakhovka dam.

x There is a bit of drama developing on the left bank of Kherson. It appears of units of the Russian 205th Motorized Rifle Brigade is trapped or encircled on the island in the Kozachi Laheri AO and the Russian command stopped an attempt to rescue them.

From Russian blogger GreyZone:

Right now our boys are being crushed on the island. Anything you can. Guys give goals, video goals, no one works. The guys identify targets, lead, send coordinates, but the information does not go further than the intelligence chief. The company commander and the soldiers tried to move forward to evacuate the guys. They were stopped. The company commander was sent to a mental hospital by force - under the pretext that there is no one there. The whole company stood up for the company commander and now they are threatened with criminal charges. Two more commanders who supported were closed. The guys were brought to the island yesterday afternoon - right under the fixation of the enemy. The brigade commander is afraid to report the situation to the top about the current situation."

Chosen Company, which is made up of foreign volunteers, was clearing trenches near Bakhmut when fleeing Russian soldiers ran towards them thinking they were fellow Russians. The look on the last guy’s face is priceless.

The video shows one guy getting shot at a distance.

x A day late, but not a dollar short.

Happy Independence Day Ukraine

We got behind Russian frontline, killed everyone in it, and then waited for friendly units to push the frontline.

Here’s what happened to them.

They were unarmed. We were yelling commands to stop & surrender. They ended up not listening and once they realized we weren't russisn tried to flee back towards bunker & weapons. None of them made it back to there.

Combat video from the Robotyne area. These embeds are from Threads, BTW, not Twitter. The first one shows wounded soldiers and a kamikaze drone barely missing a Ukrainian vehicle.

More combat video.

x I’ve heard of “spray and pray” but this is a whole other level.

Ukrainians clearing a forest in Bakhmut of Russians remind me why direct fire control measures are so important.

This is what he’s talking about regarding a guy who can shoulder-fire that gun.

They treat this wing from Prigozhin’s plane, which landed a few miles away from the rest of the wreckage, like it’s a rusted old car they found in the woods. I like how the two guys following the wing throw debris on top of it.

I wonder how the crash “investigation” is going to turn out?

I was wondering how they got this yacht from the Baltic Sea to Sochi, which is on the Black Sea coast, by way of the Arctic Ocean. It seems there is a system of rivers and canals from the Arctic down to the Black Sea. Quite a convoluted journey.

Maybe SeaBaby can pay a visit.
