We Need an "ie" [1]

Since the recent poll showing self-ID’d Republicans trust the word of Donald Trump over everyone else, including clergy, I’ve been seeing the word “cult” fluttering closer and closer to the Overton Window.
Having haunted numerous American urban landscapes in the 1970s, I know a thing or two about cults. In those days, you literally could not walk half a dozen blocks without an offer of salvation or enlightenment from devotees of everyone from Jesus to L. Ron Hubbard.
They were everywhere. Premies, Moonies, Rajneeshies, COGs, Heavens Gaters, the ubiquitous Krishnas and Jesus Freaks.
As seen in the short list above, it was common for members of a cult to refer to themselves or be referred to by nicknames, often ending in “ie.”
Since Trumpism is finally beginning to be acknowledged as a religious cult rather than a political movement, I think it’s time to give its adherents a semi-official diminutive.
I do not at all approve of the Rwandan-level dehumanizer “MAGat”, preferring the general descriptive MAGoid, which encompasses MAGA-adjacent Americans. But neither has the belittling power of an “ie.” (Yes, I considered “MAGie,” but I know and love too many actual people by that name.)
I propose we refer to our pre-deprogrmmed countrymen instead as “Trumpies.” It is sufficiently dismissive and sounds like an ill-chosen brand, the name of a failed candy, perhaps.
I concede there are much more important issues facing our country, but would like to see this issue of nomenclature settled as early as possible. Thank you.
