Brian Kemp Stole elections (Clarence Thomas helped!) [1]

So, I’m watching a few of my favorite political YouTubers today, and I see a ton of usually reasonable pundits going on and on about how brave Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is for scolding Trump about his election fraud claims.

I understand why—it is good to see Republicans rise up and tell the Tangerine Doofus to his face that he is lying his behind off!

The more members of the GOP do this, the better.

However, Kemp saying, “No, no, our elections are free and honorable in Georgia,” is a bald-faced lie. Also, let’s not get it twisted—Kemp would still vote for Trump and has said as much.

Still, what is more troubling than the fact that people are trying to paint Kemp as some centrist Republican—ahahahahaha… he’s not—is the fact that many seem to be forgetting how he stole the election from the far more deserving Stacey Abrams in 2018.

Boldy.

Legally.

Without an ounce of shame.

In other words—he didn’t “steal” his election to win the title of Governor per se. He Gerrymandered it.

Republican election fraud projection

Brian Kemp robbed Stacey Abrams of a political title, and anyone paying attention recognizes how.

People claiming to be fair and unbiased in checking Abrams’ claims of suppression state that Kemp kinda- sorta-didn’t-not-really-steal the 2018 election from Abrams because the mechanisms he used to cheat with are currently legal are being disingenuous.

Erhm, they were only legal because Kemp passed the election laws that helped him game the system.

Newsflash. Something being legal doesn’t make it right. Heck, in many states, it is legal for a grown man to marry a child—in a few, there isn’t even an age limit!

I ain’t joking. Look it up.

There is nowhere on Gawd’s green earth where it should be deemed okay for someone to oversee the outcome of their own contest. We would not, for instance, allow a Miss America contestant to sit on the judging panel.

Yet, then Secretary of State Brian Kemp had the ability to not only oversee elections but could also enact policies that would impact how GA elections were run.

And boy, did he exercise that right.

Ga gerrymandering and voter suppression

Employing the exact language used to destroy Affirmative Action, Clarence Thomas, the deciding vote at the time, claimed that racism was a thing of the past. He removed protections LBJ set forth from the 1965 Voting Rights Act in 2013, under the idea that these protections were no longer necessary and were reverse racism.

Not long after this occurred, Kemp quickly moved on polling stations like a bitch, removing 214 polling places from, you guessed it, urban and minority centers on the idea that they were too expensive to run.

Yeah, I bet those bright, shiny, and easy to get to polling spots in the ‘burbs are super inexpensive to run… *sigh*

Kemp then moved on to suppress the voting rights of those who would vote against him in the future. Between 2012 and 2018, some 1.4 million voter registrations were canceled. 80 % were Black, minority, and Democratic voters because only Democratic and Black votes and signatures are “suspicious.”

The claim that this purge was about “election integrity” is bogus, considering these lopsided and skewered stats.

A stolen Governorship

In 2018, Stacy Abrams ran for governor. Secretary of State Kemp plunged his hand back into his old racist bag of tricks and decided, for good measure, to purge an additional 340,000 from Georgia voter rolls.

Cuz when a Republican can’t win on merit, he cheats. Bigly.

I live in the burbs just outside of Atlanta and would receive some of the stupidest mailers about Stacy and her campaign you could think of. Every racist dog whistle you can think of, from calling her a socialist and communist interchangeably, to attempts to tie her to Black Nationalists, was utilized.

Despite these nasty acts, Stacy Abrams conceded. Even so, she managed to skewer Kemp for his underhanded tactics before leaving the stage.

When I hear Kemp claiming Trump doesn’t have a legit leg to stand on regarding his rigged election claims, I know it has nothing to do with the Georgia Governor being some bastion for truth or righteousness. Believe me, as a GA resident, I know. Far from it! Just look at the abortion laws he okayed here.

And do not get me started on his Covid response.

More than likely, his posture towards Trump is pure CYA. Kemp likely doesn’t want anyone to look too closely at his own election shenanigans and see what he has been up to for years.

I get it.

We all want a functioning two-party political system in America that works, but we shouldn’t set the bar so low for Republicans that a snail can crawl underneath it.

We can and should expect better.
