Maga-driven lies about public education are picking up steam ahead of school starting. Power-seekers use these lies to fuel offline action to suppress truth in our curriculum and education policies—putting children at risk in the process. That’s why we need to start now, opening minds to enter the upcoming school year seeking facts—not fiction. Enough is enough.

Then there is the gun lobby, which is celebrating guns being the leading cause of death among school-age children.

This gun shoots .22 long rifle cartridges. I learned to shoot in Boy Scout camp with regular .22 ammunition in bolt action rifles, and later I joined my college rifle team. It was legal for me to have one at home, but not to carry it loaded in the street.
