Special Counsel Appointment for Hunter Biden is a Very Strange Development [1]

Today, AG Garland announced the appointment of special counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation.

This appointment is a very strange development.

First, let me get this out of the way: based on the allegations against Hunter Biden, I’ve never thought there was much there there. He apparently cheated on his taxes (a crime ) and capitalized off his family name (not a crime). Oh, there was a gun possession violation too. And he is Biden’s son.

David Weiss — a Tr*** appointed US Attorney — has been investigating Hunter Biden for five years. Last month Weiss finished his investigation. Weiss and Hunter agreed to a plea deal. Then a Tr***-appointed judge raised questions about a minor element of the deal. This caused Hunter to reverse himself and enter a plea of not guilty to the charges against him.

Two weeks ago. Now, two weeks later, Weiss only has re-started the investigation, but then requested to do so as a special counsel. Garland agreed.

What happened in the past two weeks to go from having a deal in place to a special counsel investigation?

Either new facts about the investigation have come forward, or this is all just political. Based on the information we have before us, is not clear to me which.

Now, I am sure many here will think, yeah, duh, of course it’s political. And I am not saying they, or you, are wrong. But that don’t mean they, or you, are right.

As far as we know, no new facts have emerged about the investigation. That doesn’t mean new facts about the investigation haven’t arisen. And, this is important, Weiss is not required to divulge any such facts to We the People at this point. In fact, if there are new facts, it’s best that he doesn’t. Unless you think all the leaking in Starr investigation of Clinton was a good way to go about making a case for the public and not the courtroom.

One last thing: Weiss would have had to tell any new facts to Garland to get his appointment as special counsel. Either that, or you’d have to believe that Garland is just being political, and bending to pressure because...Tr*** got his third indictment?

It’s all very muddy to me, so I’m not reaching any conclusions at the moment.

Well, those are my thoughts. I’d like to hear yours.

UPDATE: Apparently, Republicans are not happy.

Senate Republicans blast appointment of Weiss as special counsel in Hunter Biden probe.

Reactions to appointment of a US special counsel in Hunter Biden case

The basic gist of their complaints: they don’t trust Weiss or it, view it a dodge to hide the ‘true facts’ from their ability to ‘investigate.’

IOW, this appointment could be a way to take away the Republican Slime Machine’s ability blow smoke about Hunter Biden.
