Senator Mitt Romney

354 Russell Senate Office Building — Washington, DC 20510

Phone: 202-224-5251 — FAX: 202-228-0836

Senator Romney;

You’re a United States Senator paid by the American people to be a leader who, regardless of personal political loyalties, cares about, understands, cultivates, and is willing to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle along with the President and his administration to address critical issues facing constituents.

Those issues include but are not limited to accessible, affordable health care, climate change, domestic terrorism, education, elimination of gridlock in Congress, employment, gun violence, humane immigration policies, income inequality, inflation, infrastructure, and racism.

Yet, when President Biden visited Utah this week, and you had an opportunity to discuss some or all of those issues with him, you publicly refused to meet, evidently out of fear of sinning against the thrice-indicted current leader of the Republican Party and his purportedly vote-rich base.

Utah’s Republican Governor Cox, however, put the needs of constituents ahead of politics by saying, “On behalf of the 3.3 million Utahns in our great state, we welcome President Biden to the Beehive State. We appreciate this amazing opportunity that we have to collaborate, to push back on policies on which we disagree, and to find common ground.”

When Governor Cox was asked whether he “would welcome a president from the “other political side,” he said, “It’s insane that we are having those conversations in our country today. I so appreciate my blue-state partners. We welcome President Biden here. We honor the office of the president and want to find ways to work together.”

It's refreshing to hear words like those from a member of today’s Republican party, isn’t it?

In any case, since you’ve clearly demonstrated your refusal to do the job we trusted you with our votes to do, the question that begs to be asked and answered is, “Why should any thinking voter support your reelection in 2024?”

By the way, since you consistently refuse to answer constituent questions, we feel safe presuming you consider yourself too rich, powerful, and way too important ever to bother responding to regular folks like us.

Nevertheless, we have to ask anyway ----- Got an honest answer to the 2024 question, Mitt?

Hoping for but not expecting a response,

Davy Z Jones

Note to the staff member who pulls this message from the FAX machine: We know you and the honorable senator are on a month-long taxpayer-funded vacation, but when you return, please take a moment to march into Mitt’s office and put it on his desk where he can’t miss it.

After all, I’m a constituent, and in a democracy, members of Congress are supposed to know what constituents think ----- aren’t they?

Thank you.
