Amy Goodman of Democracy Now was just interviewed by Ash Sarkar of Novara Media. This is a 50 minute audio interview.
Whether reporting on East Timor’s independence movement or following the pipeline protests at Standing Rock, Goodman has dedicated her career to reporting the facts that go ignored by the mainstream media – even if it means putting herself in harm’s way. Ash Sarkar talks to her about the state of independent media in a year of mass layoffs and bankruptcies. They also discuss arrest warrants, influencer-journalists, and what to do when Bill Clinton calls into your show.
Ash Sarkar is a contributing editor at Novara Media, a British independent news service that does video and audio programming, mostly about British politics, from a left point of view. Sarkar is an excellent interviewer by the way.
btw, the White House was really miffed when Amy Goodman started asking President Clinton probing questions that were not on the topic he was calling about. They also did not like that she took half an hour to do it after being told he only had a few minutes for the interview. Her answer was, “He called me! He is the President of the United States; he could have hung up any time he wanted to.”
