John is my friend in Ghana who has dedicated his life to helping the poorest of the poor who come to him in need. Though poor himself, he always does what he can and many people are alive in the world who would be dead if he had not helped them.

John’s own health is fragile and he has come close to death himself several times over the past few years. He has had to cut back his service to others severely over the past six months because of his own weakness.

At the present time we are only caring for Anabel, the abandoned 4 year old, because she has no one else and will be homeless and on the street if we do not. All of the others have had to fend for themselves, some of them in very dire circumstances.

Last weekend John helped to put on a show for the young musicians, dancers, and singers in Accra. Many of the kids are themselves homeless but this was their chance to showcase their talents and to make a little money from tips and what little John and his friend Okra could pay them.

The doctors had warned john not to do any heavy work. It seems that he over-exerted himself with the show and he now paying the price. Yesterday afternoon he began passing blood again. The blood loss was so severe and so sudden that he became weak and almost passed out.

His friend Okra took him to the hospital where he is now.

I wish I had better news.
