Why I want to make a difference, how a consumer becomes an activist [1]

I’ve been quickly changing my mindset in the two weeks I’ve been posting on Daily KOS. I’ve come to realize it’s because I have a voice here. Then realized I can make changes. Then i relized I can find ways in my community to try and make changes. I chose the MLK quote as he is one of my role models.

I can stop raging at my devices as I read one more story of the insanity around us. I also realized just writing about it changes little. Then realized, I can only change myself. I am going to keep writing because I find fellow travelers here, that encourage me to move forward.

This is the beauty of KOS. Everyone is a political expert. Any of us can read. Any of us can interpret and share news. Everyone is equal. This allowed me to see how to change.

The only requirements to join Daily KOS are: access to a device, be able to communicate in English, access to the internet, follow the guidelines, can use a keyboard and check boxes. The only requirement to publish is that you can type words, find a tag and push the publish button.

No one is screened to see if you are barely competent in English or an expert. No screening to see if you know anything about politics, no check box for “do you have a brain”. No test or interview. It’s assumed we’re all equal here.

It’s a win win. KOS gets content, loads of content. It helps a bit with paying the bills to operate(we stay and click). It’s participatory journalism, mixed with everybody's’ thought about life and the political. We get to participate and that will eventuality into turning perhaps all of us becoming activists. Only downside, there’s haters and critics here as everywhere. Everyone is welcome.

Thanks KOS. I’ve been on KOS since 2017. I’m now working on joining the local Democratic Committee. Politics in action. Going to be one of the boots on the ground.
