A few weeks back I posted a DK piece called The Dominionists’ Dilemma concerning the eventual need for Christian Nationalists to determine which denomination or sect will be in charge of the Nationalists’ Christian affiliation when they ascend to political power. What will need to have occurred for the winning religious team to be recognized and accepted?
Right now, many Christian groups are in the running because they are actively or tacitly coalescing to affect the overall direction of religious power. Many religious groups don’t agree with each other about small variations in Biblical text and detail, much less with varying philosophical/doctrinal interpretations. How will they ever reach consensus about who’s in charge of the nation? There will need to be some use of “persuasive influence” to effectively gain control. This could be achieved in several ways including saturating media with propaganda and pushing differing Bible interpretation campaigns, or even some levels of violence, but most likely will take the shape of economic dominance and pressure. You know, the Other Golden Rule!
This is a contentious mating dance between two gawky, headstrong powerhouses: religion and politics. Right now you are witnessing duplicitous infighting among several heavyweight, religious influencers and among several loud, political dominionists, the singles, if you will, at the Meet and Greet Soiree. From among them, who will emerge as the winning, knuckle-dragging couple slouching down the aisle toward the Wedded Abyss? Who knows, but you definitely won’t want to see their offspring.
