If Trump falters, only Greg Abbott is cruel and hateful enough to step in [1]

Right now the Republican field is Donald Trump and the thirteen dwarves. Many think Trump will slog through his multiplying criminal trials and still get the nomination. The dwarves are getting a bit bolder in criticizing Trump. But that doesn’t mean any of them has a chance. The sheer weight of Trump’s indictments may does bring him down. I”m betting this one will be the turning point.*

The nominee is more likely to be someone not yet in the field; someone waiting in the wings.

Someone cruel, racist, and nativist enough to fill Trump’s dismal shoes, but having a bit more presence than cipher DeSantis and the others.

The person could well be Governor Greg Abbott of Texas

DeSantis cannot keep up with Abbott’s relentless viciousness.

DeSantis sent migrants on a plane to Martha’s Vineyard in the summer?

Abbott dumped them on the street in Washington in 18 degree weather on Christmas Eve ***​ DeSantis passed an anti-migrant law?

Abbott booby traps the Rio Grande to drown them. *** DeSantis banned AP African American history?

Abbott tried to pardon the murderer of a BLM protestor right after he was convicted by a Texas jury. *** DeSantis signed permit-less open carry?

Abbott exploited the tragic shooting of a family by referring to the killer and the victims as “illegal” immigrants. (Inaccurately in at least one case.)

While Abbott may not be Mr. Personality, he’s a star compared with the Republican chumps running now. And his own disability may let skittish Republicans support him.
