Margaret and Helen are back!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Why our voices change as we age.
A group of researchers from the University of Notre Dame are studying what Benjamin Franklin did to make the money he printed difficult to counterfeit.
25 years ago, a neuroscientist and a philosopher who were friends made a bet on locating a signature of consciousness in the brain. The philosopher won.
Negatives of pictures of Coventry taken by a local photographer, documenting life in the city and certain archaeological findings before such things officially mattered were saved from being trashed when the photographer died and are being made available online.
Building instructions for pretty much every LEGO set ever invented.

It’s been a fairly slow week. I got to the bank for laundry money and some cash; but that’s the longest trip I’ve made.
I did get a pre-ordered book for my Kindle, and a couple of orders of assorted canned fish — salads and sandwiches for several weeks there.
Also, it was time again to call my grandkids in for trash and recycling. And a bit of help with my laundry.
Both of the Tennessee Justins won the special elections that had to be done. They were appointed to replace themselves until the election could be done. Beau of the Fifth Column said something to the effect that Justin Jones won re-election with about 78% of the vote, and the only thing that could make that NOT look like a landslide was the 90-some-odd percent that Justin Pearson got.
The new book for my Kindle is a Celia Lake story called The Shoemaker’s Wife. It’s about a couple who got married early in WWI and then spent almost the entire subsequent four years apart with very little in the way of communications. They have to learn to know each other as they are now, and build their marriage — or decide to end it.

Love you guys!
