FANA Members To Co-Host Unprecedented International Event To Be Held August 17-20th, 2023 [1]

An unprecedented international historic event will take place on August 17 - 20, 2023. The Meshanticut Cultural Placemaking Confestival (MCPC) will be held in Providence, Rhode Island at various venues across the city.

The MCPC is an annual multi-day confestival featuring a living culture festival highlighting and demonstrating concepts and initiatives articulated and explored at an accompanying cultural placemaking conference. The mission of the MCPC is "To advance the cultural placemaking sector and stimulate interest and investment in cultural placemaking as a premier strategy for promoting tourism and equitable economic development."

The 2023 MCPC is produced by the Providence Cultural Equity Initiative and NACTIP and sponsored by Cox Charities Northeast Region, the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas, the Global Cultural Districts Network, Grupos Ondoas, the Mount Hope Community Center, the Office of the General Treasurer of Rhode Island, the Providence Public Library, the Providence Revolving Fund, the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau, Roger Williams University, the State of the African Diaspora, Unidoc Health Corp/Hewlett-Packard, and United Way of Rhode Island.

MCPC attendees include Ambassador Sima of the Republic of Gambia, other representatives from the Republic of the Gambia, as well as representatives from the Mayan Nation of Belize, the Garafuna Nation of Belize, the Kinakwii Nation, the Republic of Mali, the Omaha Nation, the Māori of New Zealand, and other indigenous nations. Additionally, H. E. Lord Robert Orville Thomas Esq, First Taupaw of the FANA Inter-tribal Court System, and representatives from West Point Academy, UniDoc Health Corp., Hewlett-Packard, and local and State elected officials will be in attendance.

The 2023 MCPC will specifcially be the first time that representatives from international aboriginal Nations, other Countries and Corporations will be gathering in Rhode Island to sign and introduce contracts and treaties between FANA and other aboriginal Nations, and Corporations. There will be the historic signing of the cooperation agreement between FANA and the Garifuna, the formal announcement of the signing of the cooperation agreement between FANA and the State of African Diaspora (SOAD), the signing of a telehealth services contract between FANA and UNIDOC, and an invitation only VIP reception for sponsors, presenters, dignitaries, and other invited guests.

FANA will be working with UniDoc and Hewlett-Packard to open telehealth clinics in locations throughout the FANA Nation territories. UNIDOC will also have a telehealth pod on display on Saturday August 19, 2023, at the Steel Yard (27 Sims Avenue, Providence, RI 02903) during the Meshanticut Village Exhibition Space for MCPC attendees to learn more about how the pods become medical facilities with the latest technology.

The Meshanticut Cultural Placemaking Confestival will be a great opportunity for international aboriginal Nations to mingle with representatives from other nations and the international business community to build relations for future collaborations.
