RIP Sheila Oliver: NJ's first Black, Woman Lt. Governor [1]

NJ Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver died yesterday. This is a bit personal for me because she was a friend of the family and my brother, a NJ Law Enforcement official, worked with her frequently. She came from my home town of East Orange, NJ (born in Newark just like me) and, prior to being the LG, was VERY involved with Essex County politics and public affairs. She was a great person and we all liked her very much.

This Huffpost story tells it better than I can. My condolences to her family and friends.
