No Worse Than the Other Guys [1]

Years ago, I attended a business seminar. The theme of the seminar was “Who are you?” How do others perceive your business? They gave examples of successful businesses and contrasted them with businesses that while successful, were generally disliked. The climax were the businesses that made excuses for their shortcomings and made excuses for their bad policies. Businesses that made the excuse, “We’re no worse than the other guy.” It was called the worst company motto in the entire world.

This explains the Republican Party perfectly. Let me preface this by saying Hunter Biden was no angel. But he’s no career criminal either. Dumb yes, I’ve often wondered how long I would have survived with a lavish supply of money in my pocket at an early age. “Rock Star found dead in hotel room. Drug overdose suspected; Hookers to be questioned.” But there are thousands of tax cases just like Hunter Biden’s every year.

The imitation Republican Congressman hosted a closed-door hearing starring a former Hunter Biden business partner. The transcripts won’t be available to the public for weeks, but the smears and innuendos will begin immediately. “See, we’re no worse than the other guys. Look, look! Hunter Biden, Hunter Biden huh, huh, huh?”

It was only a week or so ago, the Republicans hosted imitation IRS whistleblowers. Who admitted under oath that most tax cases like Hunter Biden’s rarely go to trial. That the vast majority are settled long before going to court. See: Trump appointed Judge scuttles Hunter Biden plea agreement. Settle! Settle? Wha? Why, if we settle now there won’t be any more headlines! This will not do. Let’s kick this can down the road some more.

You couldn’t piss the yellow journalism emanating out of Fox News. It is both disgusting and disgraceful. The coverage of Hunter Biden’s love child. “Joe Biden ignores Hunter Biden grandchild!” Then, “Joe Biden accepts Hunter Biden grandchild!” Damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.

Maybe Hunter Biden is fair game, wasn’t he the voluntary son of a Democratic President? But what about the mother and what about the child? What if Hunter had encouraged the woman to get an abortion. Oh, the headlines! Lauren (Low rent) Bobblehead is going to be a grandmother at 37, but that’s different. The girl, repeat the girl, was only 15 at the time and that’s a crime.

This all began back when Donald Trump was running for reelection and tried to influence Ukraine to dig up dirt on the Bidens. They spun rumors for more than two years about Hunter Biden’s Laptop without ever producing it. If they had any genuine concerns about Hunter Biden’s crimes, they would have turned the Laptop over to law enforcement immediately. But don’t be ridiculous, it was the gift that kept on giving!

The long-discredited stories generated by Rudy Giuliani are recycled and rewritten. To be commented on, speculated, and spread around by one and all of the Fox News hosts. Imitation Republican Congressman talk about Impeachment investigations as Fox proclaims, Joe Biden’s stonewalling can’t go on much longer!

I sometimes wonder if Fox News viewers don’t suffer from short term memory loss. For days, weeks and years, Fox News makes accusations which have never ever, ever come to pass.

Accusations, by the thousands, criminal charges Zero! Fox has been making claims of crimes and cover ups and peccadillos. Yet not one charge has ever been filed. Now, let’s suppose young Hunter is the child from hell, and a Charles Manson Jr. What does that have to do with Joe Biden?

Clearly, this is all smoke and mirrors. A distraction to take their audiences attention off the crumbling Trump façade. And with all of Trump’s legal woes, it is getting harder and harder to do. The Trump walls are crumbling and so the accusations against the Bidens grow more and more shrill.

Did Hunter Biden put his father on the speaker phone? YES! He did! The bastard! Is there any law or a prohibition against doing that? NO! Is that illegal in any state in the union? No!

Hunter Biden is a Yale trained attorney and the Republicans call his fees, Bribes. You see, if you don’t mention Hunter Biden is an Ivy League attorney, all that money sounds suspicious. I knew a stock broker who was an Olympic bobsledder. Did that make him a better stock broker? No, but it opened lots of doors. I knew an Insurance agent in Alabama, who played on a Bear Bryant National Championship football team. Did that make him a better insurance agent? No, but it opened lots of doors.

The imitation Republican Congress ran for office on the platform of fighting inflation. But have been on a Jihad against the Bidens. Because if they gin up enough smoke and outrage, maybe just maybe, the public won’t notice the pending sedition charges against Republicans in Congress. The Trump phony electors’ scheme and Trump’s plot to overthrow the lawful election is only the beginning, only chapter one.

Chapter two involves Republican members in Congress who stood by anxious and willing to participate in Trump’s plot to overthrow Democracy. And to place King Donald the 1st on his throne. You don’t ask for a pre-emptive pardon, unless you are pretty sure you’ve participated in a crime.

So, the Republican plan is clear, distract, distract, and distract! “Isn’t true, that Hunter Biden once took two milk cartons from the lunch room, while only paying for one? Isn’t it true, that you were once a Hall Monitor and caught Hunter Biden in the hallway without a hall pass. Isn’t it true, he used his father’s influence as a senator to get out of detention?

Their slogan is “See, we’re no worse than the other guys! See, Hunter Biden! Hunter Biden! Bribes and crimes! Hunter Biden was charged with owning a gun illegally, but the same Republicans have no problem with Kyle Rittenhouse having an illegal gun and killing people with it.
