I Have A Problem With Homelessness [1]

San Diego is Making a Move

Moving on the homeless, 'the poor will always be among you,' 'do unto others as you would beg them to do unto you,' 'whatever you do to the least of man you do unto me,' love thy brother thy neighbor thy God as you love yourself, it would be easier for a camel to thread the eye of a needle than for a wealthy man to enter Heaven.'

But the above is just me. And you should know what I am. I have a 12-year-old's naivete sometimes, enough to be shocked, know the angst of a teen who cannot bring into focus things which cannot be unblurred, the wandering search of a Vietnam vet who believes he has seen too much of the soul of man, the absolute disgust of just another American patriot who sees now that the evil of today is but the evil we always saw but couldn't comprehend coming from the right, and the in-no-way-musings of an "old man" who has seen his country go from bad to badder to you'd-be-best-to-duck.

As you are moving on the homeless, you should catelogue and portray each's life that brought them to an overpass, the side of a bridge, a cardboard box or a fucking tarp. I want to know them all, the mothers, children, grandmothers, indigents, sots, addicts and of course, VETERANS. I want numbers for each category before your backhoe pushes them from sight -- maybe start a body-fill, since you already have the equipment. Those who you've called losers I call hangers-on, never-give-uppers, clinging into the last piece of anything that can cover their bodies in the night, and maybe their faces come morning, from successful eyes.

Maybe we need to tell them straight-out, You are over here, and WE are over here, and we will always follow your laws, live in your increasingly wretched moral cravasse, go about our own business. But we will never accept your heartlessness, your over-the-top policing or the soulless words leaving your mouths. And we haven't even TOUCHED the rotted soul of Trump and "his legislators" or the ready-to-go magaminds of hate.
