Webcomics I have loved: Schlock Mercenary [1]

In a distant future, where humanity has spread out over the galaxy, met aliens and “associated” with them, a sociopathic Amorph with a huge appetite and a plasma gun joins a mercenary company.
The art is, well, not Milton Caniff. But it works, somehow. You can tell the characters apart, and you can tell what you’re looking at. That’s all you really need, after all, and it’s a lesson for would be webcomic creators that you don’t have to draw like DaVinci.
That’s because the writing is incredible. You can start anywhere in the story, and end up reading until you notice that the sun has set and you’ve missed supper.
Honestly, you should read this comic. The ideas it throws at you are provocative and inspiring, and the wordplay is miles (kilometers?) beyond what you find in most fiction. Yes, I said fiction — comics, novels, screenplays, anything! It’s that good.
Also, there are explosions, shooting, and did I mention explosions? Some of them world shattering.
The only bad thing I have to say about Schlock Mercenary is that the series has come to an end — a blockbuster of an end, but an end. The comic is still available, both at the website and in the form of books. I recommend you Google it and enjoy.
