Is AMOC about to run Amok? [1]

I have a little something to add to this diary:
Climate Change: A recent paper in the journal Nature warns of a major change in Ocean Currents by Peter Olandt.
AMOC: Atlantic meridional overturning circulation, commonly called the gulf stream.
In terms of latitude, most European Countries lie north of the USA, Rome is roughly on the same latitude as Boston.
The possible disruption of the gulf stream was the first major tipping point we were introduced to at Imperial College in the mid-1990s. The consequences of such a disruption were discussed based on the geological and fossil record, but the results were never positive. These major ocean currents determine not only temperatures but global weather and rainfall patterns. We are not nearly prepared to face or even mitigate any of these consequences.
To Run Amok: to behave without control in a wild or dangerous manner:
At the moment Bretagne is having an average summer protected by a kink in the jet stream from the heat waves to the east and south. Low pressure to the north blocking in high pressure to the south.
The number of articles/papers stating that climate change is happening faster than predicted by current climate models is quite frankly terrifying. How will the predictions work when a stuttering AMOC is factored in sooner than anyone anticipated?

The conclusion is still the same, if we act now we can avoid the worse of the crisis.
Yet politicians procrastinate about the costs, some are still even in denial as the effects are clear as daylight [if you can see through the smoke and ashes]. They seem to play for time with respect to their careers hoping they get to serve out their terms, there is always a panic they can hide behind, we can't afford this! After 30 years of procrastination. Don't you know there is a war on! It’ll have to wait! We are not the worse country for emissions! We need to cut taxes first! We need growth!
The greatest growth industry of our time should be climate change mitigation, not the one waiting for a miracle.
The MSM spend at least half their time mocking protests by groups such as Extinction Rebellion and Just stop oil, as the world we know falls apart. But, but they are annoying normal people!
Nothing will annoy and frighten people more than a cascade of tipping points. Setting up a study group in the legislature won't do, act now.
