I’ve already sent my “new” camera+lens back; I couldn’t get any better photos with it, matter of fact maybe not even as good, as with my “point-and-shoot”, and the Sigma 150-600 lens weighed a TON, so no reason to keep it.
It was the camera I could afford, and it was not sufficient.
The camera I want I can’t afford.
That’s life.
So, I went out this morning and played with my Nikon P950 on manual setting, where I choose ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Camera does autofocus.
Best Western Tanager photo for me yet. JPEG format set on “Fine”. ISO 800; 1/2000 sec.; f6.3
Mediocre Western Tanager photo from yesterday. RAW format, processed in Adobe Lightroom. ISO 200; 1/250 sec. f8:
Lady Western Tanager. ISO 200; 1/250 sec. f8::
There’s just no significant difference between what I got today, with JPEG, and what I could get with a camera with a bigger sensor and megapixel count that weighed a whole bunch more and was awkward as all get out to carry around on my bicycle.
But hey, if you don’t try something you’ll never know if it was going to be good or not.
Open Thread, take it away.
