Showtime silences documentary on DeSantis' time at Gitmo [1]

Vice put together an in-depth documentary exploring DeSantis' time at Guantanamo Bay — but Showtime suddenly shelved the documentary one day after DeSantis declared for president, according to The Daily Beast.
Before Showtime pulled the piece, a political lobbyist for the premium cable network reportedly warned about the “political consequences” of airing a Vice investigative documentary about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his service at Guantanamo Bay.
The Paramount-owned cable network buried the episode following concerns from the company’s Washington lobbyist, according to Semafor.
The film investigated DeSantis’ time overseeing the illegal torture of detainees at Gitmo — and his possible participation and enjoyment of it.
DeSantis’ reach and sway within the media — and his ruthless retaliation against those who speak out against him — has became one of his signature trademarks.
While DeSantis’ collapsing performance in the polls reportedly triggered a “reset,” the “reset” appears to be worse than the old version.
