Musings for Friday - Assignment. Assignment. [1]

Whether it be the death of Tony Bennett or the announcement of a trial date for Trump’s MAL case someone out of the hundreds of regular writers here will take it on as their assignment. Some of these will actually be assigned by DK staff, most of them will be taken on by one of the members of the DK community. Through the years DK has produced some writers who have moved on to paying positions(congrats to them). Others are still here putting out articles that pique their interest. Others have just moved on.

Over the last 20 years we’ve watched this place grow and change. Some of the changes were embraced, others not so much. Either way we’ve learned to adapt and if you’re still here it means you too have adapted. You may have adapted kicking and screaming, but you came along.



This past week there appears to have been another pie fight. I don’t know what it was about and quite frankly I don’t care. Whatever it was will be worked out, meanwhile a lot of people will be setting their jaw convinced they were right and those people were wrong. Some of those people will leave, the rest will adapt. I’ve been watching these pissing contest for almost 20 years here and both sides usually declare that if they don’t come out on top this place is going to hell in a hand-basket. Well, we’re still here and many if not most of those prognosticators are gone. But there’s another thing I’ve seen here as well and that’s a bunch of posters who thrive on bomb throwing.

One of the ways we all get past these events is to take up our next assignment. What’s your next assignment? Do you know yet? Something you’ve been working on? Or is it a pop-up?
