RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A tornado heavily damaged a major Pfizer pharmaceutical plant in North Carolina on Wednesday. The plant in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is one of the largest sterile injectable product facilities in the world, and has suffered heavy damage.

The facility produces nearly 30% of all sterile injectables used in U.S. hospitals, and also focuses on manufacturing a variety of products like anti-infectives, neuromuscular blockers as well as vials and syringes.

These medical supplies are now offline indefinitely.
