It may be time to make “populism” popular again.

Real populism. Not faux populism. Not ground-hog-day Infrastructure weeks, that never amounted to a hill of beans. But instead Joe Biden populism, you know the kind that actually puts people first. The kind that actually puts people to work, that gives students a hand. The kind that grows the economy, instead of holding it hostage.

You know, Bidenomics populism — to coin a catchy phrase, that even fits on a blue hat.

Joe Biden's Economic Plan Is Winning Over Americans

Darragh Roche, byNewsweek — 7/10/23

President Joe Biden's economic plans are winning over Americans, according to new polling conducted for Newsweek that asked eligible voters about their views on "Bidenomics." […] The state of the U.S. economy has been a major concern for the Biden administration since the president took office, and his political opponents have strongly criticized his economic agenda, particularly his handling of inflation. However, the president has had successes there. While conservatives have mocked Bidenomics, the Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll found that 25 percent of eligible voters strongly support Biden's aim "to build an economy from the bottom up and the middle out, not from the top down." A further 22 percent said they supported the president's plan, a total of 47 percent in support of so-called Bidenomics. Another 23 percent of respondents said they neither supported nor opposed it; 14 percent replied they strongly opposed Biden's aims; while 6 percent stated they were opposed, and 9 percent answered "don't know." The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll was conducted among 1,500 eligible voters on July 6, 2023.

by Josh Boak, AP News — July 19, 2023

The Biden administration on Wednesday proposed new guidelines for corporate mergers, took steps to disclose the junk fees charged by landlords and launched a crackdown on price-gouging in the food industry. The announcements were discussed as part of President Joe Biden’s meeting with the White House Competition Council, a group of officials established under a 2021 executive order.

[...] “Bidenomics is about increasing competition, not stifling competition,” the president said before the meeting. “When companies have to compete, it means lower prices, fair wages and more innovation.”
