31st Street Swing Left, Markers for Democracy and Swing Blue Alliance,

three grassroots groups that have been mobilizing volunteers on behalf of Democratic candidates and causes since 2016, sent a survey to the leaders of nearly 50 similar organizations around the country, examining “how the Democratic Party and grassroots groups connect and coordinate.”

Micah Sifry summarized the report "The Experience of Grassroots Leaders Working with the Democratic Party: Steps Toward More Effective Collaboration” (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iTQ_gutEUErIj6kYQ4jJmwbJGZnLcBogBeMKVdcCqvo/)

on his SubStack last week: https://open.substack.com/pub/theconnector/p/more-on-the-poverty-of-democratic

One of the authors of the report, Susan Labandibar I know as a lifelong activist mostly in the environmental community who a few years ago began shifting her focus to electoral politics - canvassing, letter and postcard writing, GOTV…. Now she’s taking what she’s learned with her electoral politics work to show how grassroots groups interact with the Democratic Party apparatus, state and national.

Sifry revisits the report with extensive comments from lifelong organizer Marshall Ganz this week at theconnector.substack.com/...https://theconnector.substack.com/p/can-democrats-be-people-first-if

Tom Sullivan over at Digby’s adds to the discussion here:
