New Day Cafe: Pet Names [1]

Welcome to the New Day Cafe! This is an open thread.

My yard art pig recently faced a change. I had named her Peggy the Piggy, but then my dad reminded me that I have no people names for pets policy. (Samantha used to be a common pet name; it got on my nerves.)

I figured the pig wasn’t really a pet per se, but he was right that it’s a longstanding policy. So Peggy the Piggy is now Salmon the Pig, after her pink color.

Thistle the dog

got her name from a children’s book, Gudgekin the Thistle Girl, that I loved as a kid.

Isla the cat got her name from the patch of orange on her head. I found out later that Isla is people name common in the UK, but it’s not pronounced the same way.
