Hello, this is RWPOINTWOMAN and this is Last Week in Japanese News. Here is where I translate Japanese articles about Japan from the Easy section of the Easy Japanese news reader app into English.
On with the show!
July 10, 2023:
Narita Airport introduces telemedicine for users of airport. (NHK)
A service was implemented at Terminal No. 2 in Narita Airport that allows users to consult physicians in places like Tokyo for a fee. The consultations can be done in languages including Japanese, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Indonesian. The service was introduced on July 6. Users must speak to a nurse first who will take vitals such as blood pressure and temperature. And then comes the online consultation with a doctor in English about symptoms such as sore throat. The doctor can can give instructions on which medicine to take and indicate which nearby clinics they have made referrals to. There was a place at Terminal No. 2 where a physician could provide treatment, but it was shut down in March of this year due to the pandemic causing fewer people to use it. A spokesperson for Narita Airport stated, "We think that more people will use this with more tourists coming from overseas. We want to improve it by making it online and in a variety of languages."
That's all for now.
