Some Final Thoughts on Ghana [1]

I have been writing diaries on Ghana for awhile now. Frankly it has been an excruciating, embarrassing, painful task. I am an extremely private person and I was raised to keep my business my business and no one else’s. Also, many of the things I have written about have been horrible. And I never wrote the worst, frankly. I have sanitized what I have told to keep from giving others the nightmares that sometimes keep me awake at night.

My diaries have got a few recommends and a very few comments. That is fine, I know that stories about helping the poor, in Ghana or anywhere else, is not really a part of the mission statement here and not something that many are interested in.

But consistently, I am getting comments accusing John and me of being scams. I have repeatedly posted diaries explaining in detail how this is not the case. I have documentation of everything that I have written about.

But I am tired. I don’t want to have to keep saying the same thing over and over to people who automatically assume that every person in Africa is a criminal, a crook, or a scoundrel.

Think what you will.

I will say, the assumption that everyone in Arica who tries to help his or her fellows is a lying scamming criminal is profoundly, deeply, arrogantly racist. Blatantly and overtly. Those who think that are damning an entire continent, and an entire race of people, because of the actions of a few.

Racist.

I feel sad about this because of the people involved who deserve to have their stories told, but I see no advantage to writing any more Ghana diaries.

Think what you will. But with your racist attitudes you are losing Africa to China, and with good reason.

I could say more but I am tired.

Do as you will is the whole of the law.
