Street Prophets Friday: Odds and Ends [1]

Welcome, welcome, hop right on in the pot! The soup will be ready in just a few minutes. I must say, this is going to be a bit of an odd one from me— especially as I managed to forget my charging cable for this little laptop and will perhaps barely manage to hit the ol’ PUBLISH button. Maybe I should hit it now— get this in the queue before things go bzzzrt ...

Last weekend was a lovely and horrible one.

Men in their 20s and 30s can be found in the branches of this tree

We had a nice family get together to celebrate a couple of birthdays. I managed to do a lot of cooking. And later, after our guests had gone, I got a call from my step-sister's husband letting me know that she had died in her sleep that night.

So, I've been keeping in touch with him and took him and his daughter out to lunch on Wednesday. A tale of melodramatic turns and pathos. She'd just regained her Czech citizenship and was settling down to life in Prague. Now she's dead. Cremated yesterday.

And y'know, while all this was going on, one of my brothers was bouncing in and out of the hospital. Now he’s in hospice care and I’m flying to the US on Monday. Not sure how I’ll manage a diary this next week, but I'll pop something in the queue and perhaps change everything for a few pics from the city I grew up in.

Without the weeds, the garden isn't quite so green. But things are doing well.

And on Wednesday evening, I made friends with a dragon (Drák is the Czech word for dragon, kite and this fluffy woozle)

And this week I had a bit more scribbling work, just a few last-minute changes to make to the text on the label and the little lady below will be finding her way onto a beer label.

I could use a beer— and a laugh.

Sigh, I'm doing alright, but uf, my head is in a fog.
