On June 17th, 2023 the SandHill Band of Lenape and Cherokee Indians (The SandHIll) invited the Chiefs of The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA) to attend the Juneteenth event in Teaneck, NJ. Their visit was addressed in my Daily Kos article dated June 28, 2023.

The SandHill and FANA members left Teaneck as the event was ending and traveled to Raritan, New Jersey. There they attended a Pow Wow. Because the Pow Wow was on the Sandhill’s ancestral land, the organizers introduced The Minister of International Affairs and FANA’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Principal Chief Dr. Ronald Yonaguska Holloway of the SandHill who, in a brief statement, proceeded to welcome everyone to his homeland territory.

It gave an opportunity for the New Jersey Indigenous people attending the Pow Wow to meet the Chiefs of FANA and everyone had an opportunity to speak with The Minister of International Affairs and FANA’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Principal Chief Dr. Holloway of the SandHill.

It was a rare opportunity for those gathered to share their tribal histories and for friends and family to reconnect with one another.
