Hunter Biden's Latest Accuser Piggybacks Off Other Liars In Murdoch's Daisy Chain Of Lies [1]

In his famous 14-minute video, Dr. Gal Luft blamed Donald Trump's Justice Department for the coverup of his allegations made in March 2019, most notably that a one-eyed mole in the FBI relayed classified secrets to Hunter Biden, who sold them to a Chinese energy conglomerate before it collapsed in March 2018. Luft says that's Trump's DOJ reacted by proclaiming him “public enemy number one” as part of a harassment campaign against him, his family and his associates. Even though Luft is an American citizen who heads a Washington-based think tank, Trump's DOJ felt it necessary to fly six officials to interview him in Brussels.
Luft said he can't receive a fair trial in the Southern District of New York, which is why he skipped out on his extradition hearing in March 2023 and went into hiding. He knows the Justice Department has the burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt to a unanimous jury that its allegations are true, and that it has a burden of proving to a judge in Cyprus there is sufficient probable cause to justify his extradition. But Luft doesn't believe his lawyers can identify any weaknesses in the government's evidence of arms trafficking. Many of the details of his story make no sense if you try to assemble them in a logical order. Nothing he says withstands minimal fact checking.
Each Liar Piggybacks Off Of His Predecessors
Luft offered up his video exclusively to New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, who edited out details that might reflect badly on Trump on Fox News.
It fit into the daisy chain of lies told by a succession of phony whistleblowers touting the nonexistent Hunter Biden "scandal." Luft piggybacked off the lies told by IRS official Gary Shapley, whose deposition was released a few weeks earlier. Shapley had piggybacked off the lies told by Tony Bobulinski, who had amplified the lies told by the New York Post about the emails on the notorious laptop. The New York Post piggybacked off the lie told by Rudy Giuliani, that Vice President Biden had Ukraine's chief prosecutor removed to protect the CEO of Burisma. All these lies were predicated on the lies told by the provider of the laptop, John Mac Isaac, who says he uncovered corrupt business transactions in various emails. Mac Isaac couldn't identify any “pay-for-play” transactions from the laptop if they put a gun to his head.
Murdoch Media Is Big Lie Central: Devine has spent the past few years of her life promoting every one of these lies, while blaming the rest of the media for failing to parrot her calumny. She and the other professional liars at Murdoch media operate in a silo that makes them impervious to fact checking. They condition their audience to salivate like Pavlov's dogs whenever they hear inflammatory words that don’t connect—words like Hunter Biden! Laptop! Emails! Scandal! Coverup! Corruption! Whistleblower! China! Millions! Smoking gun!
Bogus Corroberation: For instance, Luft lied and said Shapley had corroberated his claim about Hunter Biden’s associate Rob Walker. Except neither Luft nor Shapley ever identified anything from Walker that was in any way improper. Walker was a recipient of the famous email, touted by Tony Bobulinski, which asked in May 2017 if Joe Biden might want to take an equity stake in a never-funded joint venture. (Legal documents always proved Joe was never interested.) Shapley defied DOJ orders and had Walker secretly taped by the FBI. Walker said the notorious email was just somebody else's wishful thinking, which was always obvious.
But Walker also said Joe once said hello to him and Hunter Biden in 2017, when they sat for a business lunch in D.C. with Chinese executives to talk about launching an investment advisory business, which was never launched. Joe didn't stay to hear their discussion or even have a glass of water. Shapley followed the M.O. of Bobulinski and the army of professional liars at Murdoch media. He pointed to that anodyne factoid as proof of corruption and of a DOJ coverup. And Luft pointed to it as corroberation that the Bidens were being bribed in exchange for national security secrets. And then Devine said Shapley corroberated Luft’s story.
Exploiting the Bullshit Asymmetry Principle: Luft also lied and said that the notorious laptop corroberated his allegation that a one-eyed mole at the FBI divulged national security security secrets to Hunter Biden, who sold them to the Chinese. (A Turkish reporter says the mole was Louis Freeh, who left the FBI before 9/11.) Luft says:
The information I provided the FBI in March 2019 was fully corroborated nine months later when the famous laptop belonging to a Hunter Biden which contains all the emails and receipts was handed over to the FBI.
Except no one, anywhere, has identified any email on the notorious laptop showing any evidence of corruption or influence peddling. Luft, Shapley, Devine and others exploit the bullshit asymmetry principle, which is "The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it.” Explaining Devine’s mountain of bullshit takes a lot more effort than it does to repeat it.
Most people don’t care about Hunter Biden; they direct their attention elsewhere when they hear his name. They don't understand that his personal story had always been used as the lynchpin for a broadbased campaign to destabilize the U.S. Justice Department by the overarching lie is that there was a coverup of their Emperor's New Clothes narrative by the deep state, big tech and big media. This firehose of lies is centered at Murdoch media. This observation isn't a conspiracy theory, because there's nothing theoretical about this analysis; all the irrefutable facts are hiding in plain sight. It dovetails Matt Taibbi’s Big Lie campaign known as the Twitter Files, in which he says the FBI got Twitter to supress conservative speech, including the fact-free Hunter Biden laptop story. This firehose of lies was all summarized by Piers Morgan on Fox, and later echoed on other prime time programming.
Luft's Six Degrees of Separation to Hunter Biden: We can start with Luft’s six-degrees-of-separation connection to Hunter Biden. Both were paid fees by the defunct conglomerate, CEFC China Energy. The trajectory of CEFC followed that of WorldCom, Theranos or the Madoff Fund and every other major business scandal. The company thrived for years, with billions of dollars and thousands of employees, because everybody piggybacked off of everybody else's due diligence, which was never done properly in the first place. In its heyday, CEFC China Energy was a Chinese Enron, a huge global energy conglomerate that threw money at disparate investments and political influencers before it collapsed like a house of cards. Plenty of global brand names, such as Glencore and Cowan & Co., were happy to negotiate big deals with CEFC in the 2017, shortly before the chairman was arrested in China and disappeared from view in March 2018.
The company's collapse, and Luft’s flight from the United States, was precipitated by the indictment of a consultant to CEFC, Patrick Ho, in November 2017 for bribing officials in Chad and Uganda. Ho was Luft’s contact for illegal trading of arms and Iranian oil. Luft was interviewed by DOJ in Brussels in March 2019 days after Ho was convicted by a unanimous jury in New York. CEFC had collapsed one year earlier.
Ho and Hunter Biden knew some of the same CEFC executives. So in November 2017 he contacted Hunter to get a referral for legal representation, since Hunter, a lawyer who was never a litigator, worked for a major international law firm, Boies Schiller. Hunter sought to find Ho a legal representative, but told him he’d need to post a million dollar retainer upfront. Retainers are refundable if the hourly billing doesn't add up to the dollar amount. And that money went to Ho’s litigators, not Hunter Biden. But Devine, Luft and other professional liars presented the million dollar retainer as going into Hunter Biden's pocket, as a bribe. This is a the Murdoch media formula ; they scavenge private emails to find some fragment that they can falsify to offer up as "evidence” of a scandal. Fox has been doing this email scam since 2009, when it offered up stolen emails to fabricate its phony “Climategate” narrative. This is what the did with the New York Post laptop story and with the Tony Bobulinski narrative. Both those stories rely on the falsification of an email fragment. The entire Hunter Biden narrative encapsulates Murdoch media’s longstanding war against fact checking media. Reputable news outlets won't rely on selectively edited or doctored emails, whereas Murdoch outlets embrace the practice.
After the indictment against Luft was unsealed on July 10, 2023, we learned why DOJ flew to Brussels to meet with him. He's been living outside the United States, since November 2017, when Ho was arrested. Did Luft have any information on Hunter Biden? It seems unlikely, since they did very different things. Luft presented himself as a well-connected political analyst.
Hunter’s entire effort to work with CEFC, from beginning to end, occurred and during the Trump Administration; so it was physically impossible for him to sell special influence. He tried to launch an investment advisory business, wherein he and his colleagues would find assets outside of China that CEFC might want to buy. Hunter never did any deals with CEFC, because CEFC never bought any assets he presented. But, as is true of private equity funds, SPACs and political action committees, the managers collect lucrative fees off the top. That setup worked for a few months in late 2017 until CEFC was no more by early 2018. Though Hunter’s hopes were vanquished; he dodged a bullet.
Again, the timing shows how conspicuous Luft’s lies are. He says:
I saw it as my civic duty to alert the government beforehand. I did it out of deep concern that if the Bidens were to come to power the country would be facing the same traumatic Russia collusion scandal, only this time in China. Sadly, because of the DOJ's cover-up, this is exactly what happened.
Except the timing was off. When Luft met with DOJ in March 2019, Joe Biden had not yet announced his candidacy and was considered a long-shot. The scandal over Russian collusion in 2016 was based on confirmed meetings between Trump proxies and Putin proxies. Whereas any possibility of similar collusion through CEFC was physically impossible, since the company had imploded in March 2018, when the CEFC chairman was arrested in China and disappeared, while the rest of the CEFC management team became persona non grata in the U.S. and in Beijing.
Liars don’t pivot; they double down. They spent the last two years proclaiming that the New York Post’s reporting has been validated, that the failure to distribute the laptop story was a coverup that rigged the outcome of the 2020 election, and that those who dismissed the laptop story area the real liars. Whatever the origins of the laptop, the trajectory of the narrative perfectly matches the Russian disinformation template described by the Rand Corporation as th "Firehose of Falsehood” Propaganda Model. This type of disinformation campaign has "two of its distinctive features: high numbers of channels and messages and a shameless willingness to disseminate partial truths or outright fictions. In the words of one observer, '[N]ew Russian propaganda entertains, confuses and overwhelms the audience.'"
