Abigale Favale's Insulting Formula [1]

Continuing my discussion of Abigail Favale’s “The Genesis of Gender.” Favale believes that it is the female capacity for pregnancy and lactation that shapes everything about our personalities and minds. Women are ‘receptive’ in reproduction: men provide the important part and we are nothing but the soil in which the male seed grows. She doesn’t use such concrete language, she simply says that ‘the male sex is analogous to God because God endows life from himself but stands apart from it.’ Men are God and women are dirt. The only thing women contribute to the world are babies.
I wanted to illustrate her view that women are nothing but wombs and breasts with a thought experiment. A woman can have all of her cerebral cortex removed, arms and legs amputated, and kept alive only by a feeding tube, but she can still get pregnant and lactate. The human mind has absolutely nothing to do with this function. We can gestate and lactate while being in an irreversible coma, and to Favale, that’s all we’re worth. Cows are better lactates; there’s a whole industry devoted to it. Rats are better gestators: they can have a litter every 28 days and never die giving birth. If all God cared about for women is our ability to produce infants, He made us worse at it than cows and rats.
