The GOP Witch Hunt on Hunter runs into a few Hitches [1]

Kind of puts things into perspective when the GOP ‘witch hunters’ are relying on a Chinese spy and an accused illicit arms dealer, as their “star witness” in their trumped-up Hunter Biden investigations.
Instead of letting the GOP muckrakers stew in their own ignorance, Dems are demanding that they account for their free-wheeling security lapses:

[Gal] Luft was arrested Feb. 17 in Cyprus but fled after being released on bail and remains a fugitive, according to court filings from the Justice Department. “Although Mr. Luft has been on the run for months, you touted him as a ‘potential witness’ and even prepared to interview him as part of your investigation. As recently as Friday, you described Mr. Luft as ‘ a very credible witness ’ about matters relating to the President’s son’s financial dealings with Chinese companies,” the two Democratic lawmakers wrote.
Does the M.O. of Mr Luft remind you of anyone?
Someone that would treat gullible GOP congressmen, as their “Get Out of Jail Free” card?

Even when confronted with un-credibility of their of their touted “star witness” — they are doubling down on that unproven and doubtful ‘credibility’:
[...] [House Oversight Committee Chairman James] Comer stressed that he wanted to hear more about Luft’s accusations and review FBI notes in the case. “We definitely want to hear more about these allegations and we want to see the notes from the [March 2019] meeting. They sent six [FBI and DOJ officials], according to Gal Luft, to Brussels to interview him. I mean, obviously they were concerned about something he had to say. There’s some level of credibility there . So, there are a lot of questions here.”
[...] Luft, a dual citizen of Israel and the US, also stands accused of seeking to skirt sanctions on Iranian oil and orchestrate Chinese arms sales to multiple countries without the proper permits. He was arrested in Cyprus this past February and jumped bail while awaiting extradition . His current whereabouts are unknown.
