Kitchen Table Kibitzing ~ 7.9.23 ~ gone fishing [1]

I had my boys again this week and it was great! Among many other things we went fishing. We didn’t catch any but that wasn’t on me. The boys had asked me if they could come over at 7 am so we could go fishing at 7:30. I usually wake up at noon, but I said sure, for this I would get up.

The boys are used to fishing from the shore. I grew up fishing in a boat which I hated because you have to be quiet when fishing in a boat and I don’t do quiet. But for these boys, I’ll do anything.

They told me they fish with chicken livers, so we went to the store to get some. The store

was out so we got beef livers. Here they are after cutting them up. We sent these pictures to their parents labeled “Murder in the kitchen”.

Due to the parents, we didn’t get to our spot (a place where you put boats in the water, 5 minutes from my house) until 10. 10am!! Don’t get me started. The kids got a few bites but caught none and lost at least 5 lures.

At 10:30 a fishing boat came back in, and the boys asked the fishers a lot of questions. Had they caught any? Only 5 or 6. They usually catch 50 or 60 catfish. (What on earth do they do with them?) What time did you start? 5 am, they said. They also told us that when the dam moves the water up or down the fish freeze and they can’t catch many.

The next boat that came by asked my boys if they were catching any. No was the answer and the guys with the boat, said that catching fish wasn’t the real point. Of course not. Arguing is!
