Speaker McCarthy;
Republican Governor Abbott of Texas and Republican Governor DeSantis of Florida have, in recent months, conspired with political allies to create a scheme that uses tax funds to hire recruiters to bamboozle asylum-seeking families into believing they would receive jobs and shelter if they agreed to be transplanted from Texas to no fewer than five states, from Massachusetts to California.
Why would Governors Abbott and DeSantis, who were ostensibly elected and are paid to preserve and protect the quality of life for all human beings, take custody of asylum seekers who are in America after having been processed by immigration authorities, deport them across state lines without notice or preparation, and then abandon them?
The answer is simple.
Abbott, DeSantis, and associates believe it is in their political self-interests to appeal to immigrant-fearing voters by putting cruelty toward asylum-seekers ahead of their official obligations to respect the quality of life for all.
Yet, it is against federal and state laws for you, me, or any other citizen, even Greg Abbott or Ron DeSantis and their co-conspirators, to round up human beings like they’re just so many heifers, remove them from their communities, and spirit them away.
I’m certain you’ll agree that the American people have a right to be assured that the Speaker of the House and third in line for the presidency understands and unequivocally supports the rule of law without regard for political power, privilege, or wealth.
Therefore, I urge you to put politics aside and publicly confirm that you believe the rule of law applies to everyone, even Republican governors, by introducing a House Resolution to ask the Department of Justice to investigate Abbott and DeSantis and their collaborators for purportedly violating federal and state civil rights false arrest, kidnapping, and trafficking laws.
