During UFC 290, disgraced ex-president Donald Trump had encounters with several celebrities, including Mel Gibson and Joe Rogan. But it was his interaction with Guy Fieri that stirred the Internet. (Whilst it’s true that Guy Fieri had a formidable following thanks to his unorthodox approach to the culinary world, people like the late Anthony Bourdain are not fans.)

Twitter account Survivor Always was more critical of the meeting and said: "Well, this is disappointing. I liked Guy Fieri, but what this tells me about who he is on a personal level and his ethics and morals really bothers me. Why would he be caught talking and smiling with Trump? That's horrible. Ewww." Fieri has rarely spoken out about political issues, but he was praised for raising more than $21.5 million in seven weeks to help unemployed restaurant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed his support for the California Restaurant Association's lawsuit against the state's outdoor dining ban during the pandemic.

"Guy Fieri was seen with Donald Trump last night and my only question is: what's wrong with these celebrities? Why are they trying to normalize Trump's behavior?" one fan wrote. "How is Guy Fieri even still alive? That guy is a human deep fryer," one fan added. "I never really liked Guy Fieri anyway. Prefer chef Jose Andres," one fan added. "I am bitterly disappointed and shocked that Guy Fieri is a Trump supporter. I will never watch his show again," another fan wrote.

This, amid claims of persistent phone-tapping in the Trump White House.
