Ghana- John and Anabel Update [1]

Just a brief update. Things have been difficult for John and the others in Ghana after his life-threatening illness and surgery last month. Because of the cost of the surgery he was unable to pay his rent and wound up homeless, living outside on the beach.
Aside from the issue of a man who has just had surgery being homeless, the beach there is not safe because of the gangs and other criminals who operate there. Simply getting enough food to eat day by day was an issue for a time.
The good news is that John is finally back home. He has paid the rent and the landlord has removed the padlock so that he can get back into the place he has been renting. I suspect it is little more than a shed. The homes along the beach area are little more than a few pics of scrap thrown together. But at least it is a roof over his head and he has some shelter from the weather and from the thugs.
The above is a photo of the home of a friend of John who also lives on the beach. The friend has a one and a half year old son living with him there. I include it just for comparison. I don’t have a photo of John’s present home. I doubt it is much different.
At any rate, John is off the street.
Two days ago John heard from the matron of the children’s home where Anabel is staying. (Anabel is the four-year old abandoned girl John has been caring for; he is currently paying for her food and lodging at a home for children whose parents cannot, themselves, care for them.)
Anabel needs funds for her medications (she recently had measles and has some skin issues) and she needs payment for her general upkeep. The timing is difficult due to John’s own expenses and other concerns but we will manage. Anabel is simply too young to be out on the street on her own.
At the present time I have no new information on John’s brother Joshua, Zenabu, and the others I have been writing about here. John has simply not been able to do anything but struggle for his own survival.
I thought everyone would like to know that John is no longer homeless.
