Liability for Georgia "Big Lie" advances - Lin Wood "retires" to avoid the music [1]

CNBC is reporting here that Lin Wood, the Trump advocate on the “Big Lie” has retired. The reason given was:
Lin Wood, a pro-Trump lawyer who worked to challenge the 2020 election results, said he has retired from the law in order to avoid his potential disbarment in Georgia. That state’s bar “has agreed to drop the disciplinary cases against me in return for my agreement to take the status of RETIRED,” Wood said Tuesday in a post on Telegram, a social media platform he has used after he was permanently banned from Twitter.
The request is, supposedly, non-revocable. It also means he can’t practice law in Georgia. The statement indicated he couldn’t practice law in any other state but that would depend on his registration in other states.
The Georgia State Bar instituted the disciplinary action in January 2021. There was a minor, 1,667 memo filed in the case listing the reasons for discipline and suggesting issues with his mental competence. Wood filed a complaint in federal court in Atlanta claiming the action violated his civil rights by asking him to submit to a mental examination or be subject to the disciplinary action. It was dismissed.
Michigan has also called for disciplinary action against Wood. The article indicated it was not clear if the retirement action would affect those actions.
