FDR: "Necessitous men are not free men" On July 4, Pledge to achieve freedom from want (with poll) [1]

Simon Rosenberg in his invaluable “Hopium Chronicles” writes today: On Our Independence Day, A Celebration of FDR's Four Freedoms Speech. The third is Freedom from Want:
"economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants-everywhere in the world."
The Roosevelt Institute construes this to include a job guarantee: "Food security, adequate housing, a good education, medical care, and a job guarantee are the freedoms and securities that FDR laid out for America to achieve for its people."
One poll shows this support for a job guarantee: 71% of Republicans, 87% of Democrats and 81% of Independents.
Defeats the glib right wing “free stuff” meme.
Undercuts destructive and bogus “work requirements” for Medicaid, etc.
Fills unmet societal needs.
Is not means tested.
Provides another source of financial security in uncertain times.
Is an “automatic stabilizer” to prevent recessions.
Is an alternate way to implement a minimum wage.
