UPDATE: Authorities Seeking Multiple Suspects: At Least 30 Shot, 2 Dead in Baltimore Mass Shooting. [1]

There are some investigative developments in the Baltimore shooting:

The latest: The ages of those shot ranged from 13 to 32 years old and some 14 of the injured victims hurt were younger than 18, Baltimore Police Acting Commissioner Richard Worley said at a Sunday afternoon briefing. Nine were still in local hospitals "in various conditions," he said. Police were still searching for the suspects and "we know for sure there are more than one," but officers were still trying to determine how many, Worley added.

Just past midnight a mass shooting tragedy struck a neighborhood in Baltimore. This one appears to have target a local holiday weekend block party in the Brooklyn Homes neighborhood. Details are still sparse at this point.

Police in the U.S. city of Baltimore confirmed on Sunday that two people had died in a "mass shooting incident" overnight at an apartment block in the city and three others were in a critical condition. The city's police department said 30 people had been shot in the incident at 800 block of Gretna Avenue in Baltimore. An 18-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene and a 20-year-old male was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital, the police said. Three others were in a critical condition after nine people were transported from the scene to local hospitals, while 20 others affected walked into hospitals in the area, police said.

At this point the scene is believed to be secure, however there is nobody in custody. Of note, Mayor Brandon Scott is calling the perpetrators “cowards” suggesting that at this time it is believed there were mutiple shooters.

There are not a lot of other details to report, and quite frankly, the media’s treatment of this is rather shocking. Thin reporting, limited focus, and not much in the way of live coverage. This is of course one of now hundreds of mass shooting incidents just this year. In fact, at almost the exact halfway point, here are the totals:

In a sign of sick times, this past week actually came in below the year’s weekly average. Yes, we live in a country where 1.42 mass shootings per day in a given week, is an improvement.
