A legitimate court doesn’t take rights away from the people. The court should protect rights and not limit them. Rulings should have no political impetus behind them save for goodness and fairness. When the court’s agenda becomes predictable sweeping away a generation of established legal precedent, it isn’t a court at all. Nothing but the overruling heavy hand of alternative government rule under the color of law.
The issue of Reproductive rights had been decided by Roe Vs. Wade. But then a new court comes to power and sweeps away the old precedent with a new legal broom. Meaning all law is fluid and everything is on the table and open to negotiations. The issue is privacy, do you own your own body? Or does the state have the final authority over your body? That’s it, that’s all! Everything else is Sophic reasoning of an ancient primitive religious belief system.
I honor and respect your religious beliefs, but I’m not a slave to them nor am I subject to them under the color of law. I can open my store on Sunday if I want or cut my grass. Religionist can’t dictate medicine to enforce their moral beliefs with their purchased court opinions. Americans are sitting in wheelchairs because treatments with stem cells are against the law. Don’t you know your law and your bible? God is agin such things!
Premeditated, planned, and executed. The taking away of a Civil right from the citizen, despite the wishes of the public at large. Just an endless stream of rulings largely ruling against the will of the people overruled by the super wealthy. You’ll note these rulings always go the way of the Uber wealthy.
Not to change the subject, but if you were walking through a field and kicked up a gold nugget. How many other rocks would you check before you were satisfied it was the only one? Justice Clarence (Garage Sale) Clearance Thomas has been accused of enough wrong doing to retire three justices. And answers to the accusations with just a shrug of his shoulders mouthing, “yeah whatever, Fuck off!”
Now more charges of the same verity surround Samuel Alito. Billionaire Best Friends forever! “Do I want to go fishing in Alaska this weekend? Sure, that sounds like fun. Will we fly there on your private jet and stay at your exclusive lodge?” Private kingdoms of power just pulling the levers and preening billionaires for what they want in life. “Mama needs a carport.”
The Court’s ruling on Affirmative action was predictable. The conservatives have been against Affirmative action since its inception. Because they fear their kid might get bumped. They hate charity and kindness in any form. The religious minority has a deep-seated mistrust of education. Because after all education ultimately says, god is dead.
After WW2 my father showed up at Ohio State with his high school diploma and his discharge papers and he was in gratis. He became an engineer an inventor and a college instructor. You build a society with education. New machines which previously didn’t exist became products that were sold around the world.
In many parts of the world, higher education is free and encouraged. It is in the countries best interest to have an educated work force. It has nothing to do with political philosophy. It comes from the Pilgrim’s dogma of eternal struggle of the Puritan’s progress. If you ain’t suffering, you aren’t really living. Plus, when you’re king of the hill you don’t much like competition. And you damn sure don’t want to fund it. This is the party against free student lunches (Hungry eight-year-olds are good for America) and calling for their abolition nationwide while seeking tax credits for jet owners.
You know, as the sign says, “No shoes, no shirt, no pants, no service!” It is a principal I think most Americans understand. President Kennedy desegregated interstate transport by executive order. If you’re open to the public that means everybody. You can’t pick and choose or discriminate with colored waiting rooms. A ticket on the bus means the same treatment for everyone. So how do these cases ever reach the Supreme Court in the first place?
What kind of crazy businessman or woman turns away orders? That’s crazy! If they don’t want to make your wedding cake or fix your computer, go somewhere else. Yet with all the affairs of government and the daily crisis these sort of cases magically rise to the highest levels of adjudication. Spending tens of thousands of dollars fighting over a trifle to make a legal point. About their religious rights! Their religious right to pick and choose which religious rights to pick and choose from.
Motivated from the start to make a point about their religious freedom. The persecuted and put upon’s right to call out sinners despite Jesus saying that all were sinners before the lord. So, somebodies got a mote stuck in their eye. The power of Christ compels me …to deny you service. Get your aluminum siding somewhere else fella. We don’t like your kind around here! And the court decided that was a good policy. A catch as catch can hodgepodge of “Sue me, if you don’t like it.”
“We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time for anything,” cause it’s in the Bible. I was in business for many years. There are a lot of polite ways to say no thank you. You price up the estimate and push out the time line. “I’m really quite busy this year but thank you for calling. No instead, you put your little foot down. Fuck the retirement account! Let’s take this baby to court!
A broken and humiliated court. How do you sit on a court with one or more disgraced Justices and not become contaminated be association? To tolerate them in court is to tolerate their behavior. Would you keep your job if you were partying and living the high life on the customer’s dime? Would you serve on a disgraced court if you knew the fix was in? If they’re willing to call Clarence their trusted coworker, it speaks to their own character.
It hangs like an ugly cloud in the room. A broken court where law is fluid and subject to slosh around to the whims of billionaires and religious zealots.
A continuation of a long-lasting Supreme Court legacy, a slave was still a slave no matter where he may roam. Children make the best coal miners! The Constitution doesn’t say anyplace you can’t have child labor. Separate but equal works for us, it does at least sound fair. But the defendant in the Scopes Monkey Trial was convicted . It was against the law to teach agin the Bible in Tennessee. The court says so.
