CNN Covers "Big Ideas" From GOP Presidential Candidates. No, This Is NOT Satire, But It Is Funny. [1]

The news is kinda slow, at least for billionaire John Malone’s latest acquisition called CNN. Seems that one of their reporters wanted to list some of the — wait for it — BIG intellectual ideas being vomitted up by some of the Republican presidential candidates for 2024. It may not have been CNN Zachary Wolf’s intention to write a satirical piece, but you cannot say that Republicans have BIG IDEAS and be taken seriously. And he proves it with this homework assignment from his boss CEO Zaslov.

Warning: these BIG IDEAS may shock your brain into a coma or make you laugh out loud.

Raise the voting age Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy speaks during the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland. Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech founder, wants to raise the legal voting age to 25. It’s hard to imagine how this would work since the current voting age of 18 is guaranteed in the 26th Amendment. Democrats like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have in recent years pushed to go in the opposite direction, arguing to lower the voting age to 16. Ramaswamy says there would be exceptions to raising the voting age, such as for people who join the military or otherwise meet a “national service requirement.” Others could pass the same test given to naturalized immigrants. “I want more civic engagement. My hypothesis is that when you attach greater value to the act, we will see more 18-to-25-year-olds actually vote than do now,” Ramaswamy told The Washington Post.

More civic engagement if you take away the voting rights of a specific set of our population. Riiiiigght. I think Wolf missed the part where the GOP is losing the youth vote, and it’s why this nut job Ramaswamy has come up with this voter suppression proposal.

How about we take away the voting rights of biotech founders instead? Or maybe we take away the voting rights of Indian Americans instead? I know that would be a twofer. Not only would it end Ramawamy’s ability to vote, but it would also take away Nikki Haley’s as well. /s.

Speaking of Nikki Haley, her BIG IDEA is a mental compentency test for presidents over 75. Yeah, she is hitting two birds with one stone, but even Wolf didn’t buy her bullshit. He proposes why we shouldn’t have a compentency test for ALL candidates running for president instead!

Now, Wolf supposedly tried to delineate between what a political party stands for and what specific candidates stand for in his article. But he really fails when he points out that Mike Pence and Nikki Haley want to raise the retirment age for Social Security and Medicare. The entire GOP is for dismantling both programs! This is NOT a NEW BIG IDEA! So what Haley and Pence are proposing is same old same old from the GOP.

And then there is the proposal to end birthright citizenship from our leading fascists Trump and DeSantis. Never mind about that 14th Amendment thing. I’m sure the Supreme Court could always take a case based upon a lie of how the 14th Amendment negatively impacts someone, then the SCOTUS can hold a seance with the Founding Fathers to rule the 14th Amendment unconstitutional.

But I digress.

Finally, and for those who love “The Jetsons,” Trump wants to...Let me just put it up for you all.

Build ‘freedom cities’ and develop flying cars Former President Donald Trump’s most outside-the-box ideas have a futuristic “Jetsons” feel. He wants to build new “freedom cities” on federal land to reopen the American frontier and give people a chance at home ownership. He argues the plan could revitalize American manufacturing. And he envisions freeing Americans from hellish commutes by looking to the skies, taking the initiative to innovate vertical-takeoff vehicles. CNN’s report on Trump’s proposals notes that technology is already underway by industry, but a long way from being available to consumers. A government-planned city might seem like a strange proposal for a candidate whose party has long embraced free market ideals. But the idea of a planned city is not completely foreign – just look at Washington, DC.

When I was younger, I wanted there to be flying cars. It was soooo cool. However, after watching several cars that have run off the road and into homes in my neighborhood, I have come to the reluctant conclusion that flying cars would be way more dangerous than the mere landbound ones. Can you imagine sitting down to a meal when some teenager in a flying car comes crashing into your dining room? Or some elderly woman who cannot see above the steering wheel comes crashing down into your bedroom? Let’s not forget about all the drunk drivers.

And the media isn’t laughing their collective asses off about Trump’s mental capacity???

Lord help us.
