Farewell, Alan Arkin [1]

I was sad to see the news that Alan Arkin has walked on. He was 89.

I remember the thrill of seeing him at the Ralph’s Market on Ventura Blvd from time to time in the San Fernando Valley doing his own grocery shopping.

He was a remarkable character actor whose range included both dramatic and comedic work.

I am not particularly reticent but this is all I have to say. I, for one, will miss him. I am not alone.

2:30 A previous fulsome diary mentioned his passing...I’d missed it. A superior entry, certainly. I don’t have much to say today (stunning development). I am feeling flat about the injustices handed down by SCOTUS, among other things. Learning about Mr. Arkin’s departure from the earth did not lift my spirits.
