Happy Birthday to one of my favorite comedians, Mel Brooks who is a spry 97. His movies and TV shows are among the best in American humor.

Yogurt!

Best known as a creator of broad film farces and comic parodies. He began his career as a stand-up comic and as a writer for the early TV variety show "Your Show of Shows". He went on to create the comic sketch "The 2000 Year Old Man" with Carl Reiner and the comedy TV show "Get Smart spoofing the James Bond films. In middle age he became one of the most successful film directors of the 1970s. His most famous films include his film debut "The Producers" (1967) with Zero Mostel and longtime collaborator Gene Wilder who bring a script about Adolf Hitler to the stage. It was later made into a successful stage musical. "Blazing Saddles" (1974) spoofing the western genre starred Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder and "Young Frankenstein" which parodied the horror film was co-written with Wilder. He is on the short list of entertainers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony award.

He’s the ultimate kitchen table kibitzer.

The rest is history.
