Bookchat: Not Feeling Wowed [1]

Welcome to bookchat! Where you can talk about anything; books, plays, essays, and audio books. You don’t have to be reading a book to come in, sit down, and chat with us.

I had an idea for this Bookchat about several books that cover the same story from different perspectives. But now that it’s time to write, I feel kind of blah about that.

In fact, I feel kind of blah about most of the reading I’ve been doing this year. I’m not discovering many new (to me) authors or unforgettable books. Even some of my favorite authors have had new books that I found...let’s just say underwhelming.

I’m not sure why that is. It could just be own mood is not so good. It could be that as I age, it gets harder and harder to “wow” me. Or it could be the effect of the pandemic when everything got off-kilter, and the writing world just hasn't gotten its act back together. Could be a combination of these things.

So I need you to help me out. What are the books that wowed you this year? Especially independent authors.
