Top Comments: It's Almost July??! Edition [1]

I could swear that I just wrote my first 2023 Top Comments diary a few days ago, and this is my twenty seventh Top Comments diary since then. In one week we’ll be in the seventh month of the year. Summer is officially here, and we’re supposed to be relaxed, right?
Well, two weeks from tonight Mr. Brillig, K1, K1’s significant other and I will (airline willing) be getting settled in our hotel room for Netroots Nation 2023. Last year was the first we had to miss because there was just SO much going on we couldn’t attend. We couldn’t miss seeing our friends again (the last time I hugged some of my dKos/NN fam was in the 2019 Before Times) so we carved out this week ages ago.
The Universe thought we were very well organized, so threw some… erm… challenging logistics into our plans. K2, who turns 18 next week (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) is staying home to work on college applications and also work — he starts a job at the local Y tomorrow. But on July 7th he and I are driving 400 miles from Boston to Lancaster PA so he can attend a soccer ID camp on Saturday. When that ends at 4:30, we’re driving back home. Giving me one day to pack, organize, make sure he has everything he needs for his first-ever week home alone, and then on Monday morning drop the pup off at the amazing boarding place he loves.
In addition to planning K2’s birthday celebration, there also seems to be a national holiday happening, which throws schedules into disarray.
I feel a lot like the White Rabbit, late late late. I know logically that everything will get done, that Chicago will have whatever we need if we forget something, and that K2 will have friends and neighbors around and checking in on him so he will not truly be alone. But I still feel overwhelmed.
I have both of these! #winning
