I agree with the Grand Wiz. Call it “Fort Loser Bragg: The traitor who helped the South lose.” /sn [1]

Plummeting in the R primary polls, Governor Ron “Grand Wiz” DeSantis apparently believes doubling down on the racism is the way to reverse the slide.

So he’s renewing his call for Fort Liberty to be renamed after rebel general, traitor and slaveowner Braxton Bragg.

Well, for once I agree with the six-week-abortion-book-AA-Studies-gay-rights banning Guv. It turns out Ol’ Braxton was a terrible general:

A native of Warrenton, North Carolina, Bragg was in his position until 1863, when after a defeat at Chattanooga, he was removed from that lead role at his request and became a military advisor for Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Despite his relegation, he would go on to be the on-the-scene commander during Confederate defeats throughout the war, including a failed attempt to protect the port in Wilmington, North Carolina.

So it’s clear Bragg made substantial contributions to the Union cause, hastening the North’s victory. This contribution should not remain unrecognized.

But the prior Fort name, i.e., just “Bragg,” was misrepresentation by omission, because it did not set out his great contribution to the good guys winning, the 13th-15th amendments et al.

So my modest proposal is to name the NC military post:

Fort Loser Bragg: The traitor who helped the South lose.

Wanna keep “Liberty?”

No problem!

Fort Liberty: Remembering Loser Bragg: The traitor who helped the South lose.
