Am I just a little suspicious (hell yes!)? Whenever you hear someone spin lie after lie after lie, what else can you be?

The other day we heard that the bond payment that freed George Santos on bail while awaiting his trial was paid by his father, Gercino dos Santos Jr., and aunt Elma Preven in the amount of $500,000.

Does anyone else get the sneaky feeling that something might not be kosher with this?

According to the New York Times:

When making contributions to Mr. Santos’s congressional campaigns in 2020 and 2021, Ms. Preven said that she worked as a mail handler for the Postal Service. Property records show that she owns an apartment in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens. Mr. dos Santos — whom his son has described as a Brazilian immigrant of Angolan descent — also lives in Queens, according to campaign finance records. He said when making donations to his son that he worked as a painter or in construction, or that he was retired, though he told the court last month that he was employed. …… The committee asked Mr. Santos last month to disclose the names of his sureties so it could determine whether the bail guarantee violated House rules regarding gifts. House members are very rarely allowed to accept gifts — a broadly defined category — from people outside their families, to avoid undue influence or the appearance of it.

I don’t know about you, but I question how a mail handler with the Post Office and a painter come up with $500,000 without putting their property in hock through a second mortgage or some other method.

Not saying it is impossible that they would just have a half a million dollars between them just sitting in an account, but if I was a prosecutor looking into this case of the charges against George Santos, I might want to subpoena financial records of them both to make sure no huge deposits from other sources may have suddenly appeared in their bank accounts just prior to the need for the bail bond to be needed.

But that might just be me (because I’m sooooooo suspicious?)

I’m sure you’ll let me know your feelings below:
