Trump’s Worst Political Enemy? Himself.

As a client, Donald Trump is every lawyer’s nightmare. Most lawyers advise advise their indicted clients to shut up and not talk about the specifics of the case against them lest they incriminate themselves. Trump, however, can’t help himself for he must believe that such advice is not applicable to him. Every time he opens his mouth, he provides evidence that the charges against him are not only very serious but legitimate.

Scroll down a bit and you will see the recent Quinnipiac University poll that supports the above assertion. Whether he realizes it or not, Trump is in a heap of legal trouble.

Towers of Evidence

Most See Trump Charges as Serious A new Quinnipiac poll finds a majority of Americans think that the federal criminal charges against Donald Trump are either very serious (45 percent) or somewhat serious (20 percent). A big majority says Trump acted inappropriately in the way he handled those documents (60 percent). The public isn’t fooled by Trump’s antics. A solid majority thinks that the charges laid out in his indictment are serious and, thus, warrant responsible behavior on Trump’s part. Not that he is about to stop making a fool of himself.

A few other interesting findings from this poll.

By a margin of 95%-2%, Democtats think he acted inappropriately in handling classified documents while independents agree 62%-23%, never a good sign for political candidates. Republicans disagree with 58%-25% saying that Trump acted appropriately.

By a 51%-41% margin, Americans think Trump should be prosecuted on criminal charges.

Only 27% are satisfied with Trump’s explanations, while 60% are skeptical.

If military secrets were exposed and shared illegally with unauthorized personnel by Trump, almost 9 in 10 Americans think it is a serious problem.

The US Supreme Court’s job approval rating is underwater 29%-58%.

If Trump goes to trial, 64% think the proceedings should be televised.
