A Confederacy of Dunces: Elephants Flooding "The Zone" [1]

What a week on Fox. Last Thursday, how kind it was of US Rep Jim Comer (R-KY) to comfort Rupert Murdoch’s reeling, ratings-shedding propaganda porch by pegging MSNBC viewers “low IQ.” Two days earlier, Fox had anointed Donald Trump “President of the United States.” (Either Fox missed a lot of boats, or a deja-coup had put Big Blonder back in charge without this writer getting the word.)
On Friday, Fox hopefully bottomed out. To hurl truly YUGE chunks of red meat, who better than an MLB pitcher turned GOP putsch-pusher? Shades of the six-times-bankrupt lyin’ scion (whose orange skin may yet presage a jumpsuit), Curt Schilling reportedly blundered away megabucks of his own (though at least he’d built his stash via prodigious baseball, not parental bestowal).
In any case, as if eying a violent insurrection, he raved (without examples, let alone evidence) that “the left” relentlessly breaks the law, and hence must be dealt with by fine, upstanding vigilantes who’ll “pull the trigger” a la Colonial troops during the Revolutionary War.
The upshot: Schilling puts domestic terrorists who’ve tried to wreck this country on par with the tyranny trouncers who fought to originate it. (Questions: how can that not bespeak ongoing, self-entitled, treason? How can Fox host Jesse Watters’s reported bobble-heading to Schilling that yes, “Republicans need to go on the warpath” not seek to reprise-and-escalate J6?)
Let it be stressed: Schilling’s fascistic, bean-balling, bloodlust is far from unique. Like it or not, report it or not, let’s recall Rudy “Trial By Combat” Giuliani. Ginni “There Are No Rules In War” Thomas. Roger “Fuck The Voting, Get Right To The Violence” Stone. Mo “Kicking Ass” Brooks. And the self-styled “Chosen One” who, so far with impunity, sent preheated militias “to the Capitol….to fight like hell.”
These days, Comer’s peer Clay Higgins (R-LA) circles the wagons around Trump by babbling about establishing a domestic “perimeter.” Arizona sore loser Kari Lake raves “This is war.” Her fellow Grand Canyon State bellyacher Andy Biggs (who reportedly keens to become House Speaker) honks “We have now reached a war phase.”
As if to undermine Comer’s “low IQ” snort, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow (holding a DPhil in politics from Oxford, thank you veddy much) strives to present “useful information.” The Trump team, not so much. Indeed- as even the “War Room” field marshal/Trump Svengali/inaugural address writer/Mussolini-lauding/Trump-pardoned evildoer Steve Bannon acknowledges- the basic strategy has been to “flood the zone with shit.”
For instance, when, during said inaugural spiel, Trump raved about unspecified domestic “carnage” that only he, Trump, could quell (implicitly, by fighting specious firepower with the real deal). Aptly enough, even George ‘WMD’ Bush called that dystopian demagoguery “weird shit.”
Better late than never, let’s drain the sewer. Trump’s party officially normalizes J6 as “legitimate political discourse.” You need not be Einstein to grasp that appeasing such high-placed sedition hasn’t worked. From the last ditch into which we’ve been pushed-and-putsched, let’s make bold to put overtly warmongering, crazy-and-stupid-like-a-Fox “enemies...domestic” in their place.
If not behind bars, that’s DEFINITELY OUT OF OFFICE.
