No offense to the real Six Flags, but this is the best comparison I can come up with. In the same vein as the poster who decried the ridiculous coverage of the submersible Titanic tour when refugees lost in the Mediterranean are given basically a mention in passing, I’m sickened by the response by authorities in attempting to recover this thing. Who is going to pay for this search? Canadian and American taxpayers? I don’t imagine it will be the Ocean Gate outfit. But it should be. I think that at a ticket price of approximately 1.25 million dollars for the adventure, and they have already done several of these, they should be held liable for the incredible cost of this search. Even if the thing is never found.
Or they should be insured (if any insurance company would be stupid enopugh to underwrite these “expeditions”).
Billionaires should not be bailed out by taxpayers!! If these “crewmembers” (read obscenely wealthy tourists) turn out to be rescued they should reimburse to the penny every organization which took the trouble to rescue them. I must admit that I’m not losing any sleep over their predicament. I’m not proud of that. But I feel for those latest 500 refugees who are simply trying to find a better life for their families. But not for those 5 titanic tourists who are there only for the adventure and bragging rights.
AITA?
